American Airlines Bumping Change: Next Flight Even If Full
American Airlines reportedly told gate agents to stop involuntarily bumping passengers. According to an internal memo reported by View From The Wing, effective Sept 30: keep the door open, take a delay if needed, find volunteers — and those volunteers can be confirmed on the next flight even when it's already full. American hasn't announced it publicly yet.
DOT figures for 2025 (as reported): American and its regionals involuntarily bumped about 14,758 passengers — more than the rest of the reporting industry combined. Delta: zero.
Would you give up your seat for the next flight if they guaranteed it?
